Winter Garden & Lighthouse

Close by is another borrowed view. Happisburgh Lighthouse is seen through a porthole cut in the sheltering trees. On either side is the Winter Garden, think leaf, bark and berry, late and early Cyclamen and bulbs. From here another sheltered area is the Perfume Corridor containing many scented shrubs, their aroma trapped by the tall sheltering hedges. To the south of this are the Stock Borders enclosed by bays of Yew hedging packed with plants for propagation for the garden and for selling. In the centre of the Stock Border is an exercise in geometric shapes in various shades of green with a contrasting hedge of red-leaved Berberis ‘Bagatelle’.
