| The Pond | |
Leaving this area at the far end, near the Glasshouse you will come to the Apple Walk. Proceed downhill towards the Pond through the Rondel which is planted with Rosa Graham Stuart Thomas. By the Pond is a Wild Flower Meadow which is at its peak in June, underplanted with various early flowering bulbs, like Narcissus and Camassias. There is a second late season with Autumn Crocuses from September to November. The Pond is not natural but was created at the lowest point in the garden to give an appearance as natural as possible. This garden has become a haven for wildlife with many frogs, toads and newts which were not here until we created the Pond. Now, with moorhens having moved in, we must have achieved a good natural balance.
