King’s Walk

1.jpg

Through a brick arch we find the south front of the house. Facing south is The Kings Walk, designed to be seen from the house as a formal enfilade of three lawns each at a slightly higher level than the one before to add variety to what is a largely flat site. Two pairs of gate piers add further architectural interest, the whole terminating with a Pavilion with a pyramidal roof.

The balls on the gate piers we made ourselves, were cast in a mould in two halves and with their sandwich of terracotta tiles atop their brick piers add to the grandeur of what is a relatively simple architectural design.
