East Ruston Old Vicarage
The Long Borders
Leaving the Vegetable and Cutting Garden
we enter the Long Borders through a house
fashioned from hornbeam. Note the word long
and not herbaceous. This is deliberate for as
well as herbaceous plants we also grow shrubs,
climbers and annuals here, in fact any plant that
adds to the scene. Our aim here, indeed as it is
throughout the garden, is to have interest for
as long a season as is humanly possible. At the
northern end of the borders is a large
dome-shaped structure which has various
climbing roses trained over it, behind which
extends a vine covered tunnel.
